Critic Reviews:
"Mark Edward Hall writes likea master. Stephen King, yes, but also like Stoker, Poe, and Bradbury, yeah, even Shakespeare.... all those good guys we've forgotten. His prose is hypnotic and seductive, visceral, and edgy. He's the real thing." (Kiana Davenport, New York Times best-selling author of Cannibal Nights and House of Skin)
"Hall has an uncanny knack for blending vivid, almost poetic prose with visceral images of jaw-dropping horror to great effect." (Bram Stoker Award-winning editor Vince Liaguno)
"Poetic and eerily seductive, Hall pushes you to the edge, until you get lostin the beautiful madness of his creations." (Midwest Book Review)
"Hall is rapidly climbing theladder to stake a claim as one of the dark fiction elite." (Morpheus Tales)

A little twist of horror
I'm a horror story fan. And I love a good read. I got both reading Mark Edward Hall's "The Fear". The story opens with protagonist Mitch Redlon waking and knowing that the inexplicable horror he calls The Fear is back. Finding himself feverish and blood soaked, Mitch knows he must stop the recurring childhood nightmare before it destroys him.The story takes Mitch on a journey home to long hidden secrets and dark discoveries. I particularly like the good old fashioned "good vs evil" aspect but with a M.E.H. horror twist.
Creepy
I found the story pretty creepy and a great bedtime story, for those of you who like a scare before bed.
The Fear - Excellent!
This story gets better by the page. A sick and twisted tale of lies, betrayal, and revenge; it kept me reading and guessing, straight through to the end.
Great read
The story focuses around a person named Mitch Redlon who has some serious issues with nightmares, night terrors and the huge scar running the length of the right side of his torso. As Redlon grew up, he was plagued with horrific nightmares. Unable to understand or explain what was happening he just called it "The Fear." It plagued him until around the time he moved out of his fortune-telling mother's home. One night (after having been free of "The Fear" for quite some time), Mitch Redlon wakes up screaming. As he fights to regain control over his emothions and "the deep rooted agony" in his scar, he realizes: "The Fear" is back with a vengeance. Unable to understand what is going on he decides to confront his mother about "The Fear." He arrives at her home to find something has brutally attacked her and she's in the hospital. The neighbor, who has known Redlon all his life, finally tells some of the answers to Redlon. Redlon then goes to the hospital to check on his mother. Redlon gets the answers, but they are not good. He goes abck to his mother's house and finally is able to confront "The Fear," but do NOT expect a happy or calm ending. I will not explain what "The Fear" is, but it was not what I expected it to be. I will not tell you how the story ends other than it is soemwhat gruesome and macabre.
Once I started the story I had to read it straight through. I am glad I did.
