The Feast of Pentecost is a theophany, a manifestation of God! Luke, the writer of Acts, uses the retelling as a way to remind us that the Jews also celebrated Pentecost. For them, it was the celebration of Moses receiving the Torah from God on Mt. Sinai. The same wind and fire are present in both events.
Peter and all who receive the gift of the SPirit are filled with a boldness to go forth and proclaim the Good News. We have that same call, by virtue of our baptism, to do the same.
Yes, it is the birthday of the Church!!!! So celebrate.
