Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, the federal reserve has been extremely accommodative to the U.S. economy, but on Wednesday, they signaled a slow down in such actions by announcing a slowing in their bond repurchases each month. This does not come as a surprise to markets, but it will be interesting to see what the long-term impacts are and what Fed actions this leads to next (i.e. raising rates). It is important to talk about these macroeconomic topics so that we can better understand the underlying forces that swing the value of our portfolios on a day-to-day basis.
