The Federal Budget

Listen Later

In this episode of BUSTED, Heath and Rohan discuss the 2021 Federal Budget and what it means for local communities and law enforcement in Australia.

The Budget was delivered on Tuesday and made no mention of the problem of black-market trades, such as illicit alcohol, tobacco and drugs, and the criminal syndicates that are profiting from them.

BUSTED discuss the problem of black-market activity regularly here on BUSTED – and given the scale of the problem, and how criminals are exploiting weaknesses in Australia’s borders, it was disappointing to see the Government not even mention it.

Despite strict travel restrictions, smuggling has not dissipated. Heath and Rohan discuss the massive amounts of illegal tobacco seized, and there are no signs of this easing. With billions of dollars lost to the black market every year, the government needs to do something about recouping the lost money that could be invested in the community.

Even former celebrities are getting in on the smuggling bonanza. An ex-Home and Away star was found with large amounts of cash and drugs. Find out how the cops caught him!

A huge number of illegal drugs were seized in a state-wide drug bust! But it is the types of drugs cops found that has them worried. Watch why police in Queensland are concerned about this new trend.
