In the final section of 1 Peter 4, the writer of Scripture enjoins believers to rejoice in their suffering once again, knowing that God has a good plan for us through it. Suffering for our wrongdoing is a different story since that is God's chastisement upon His people as He purges them from sin. Peter then makes one of the scariest statements in Scripture, saying that if the severe suffering that believers go through is just God's hand of correction, how much worse will it be for those who have rejected Him altogether? Therefore, believers should "commit your souls to God...as a faithful Creator."
