Forming Outlines, The Fikra Designer-in-Residence 2019 Exhibition has just opened featuring Layan Attari, Mashael Alshammary, Moylin Yuan, and Sara Khalid. Eleonora Cervellera - Head of Strategy and Cultural Programmes at Fikra is here along with the designers to take us through their work. Layan Attari explores the shifting definitions of patriotism and nationalism in the UAE; Mashael Alshammary explores the documentation of women empowerment in Saudi Arabia; Moylin Yuan researches Informal Financial Transfer Systems known as hawala in the Middle East, and Sara Khalid’s HyperLink is an alternative narrative emerging from Quranic literature.
