On Monday’s show Leonard talks to the filmmakers of “BURNED: Are Trees the New Coal?” a new documentary which takes an unwavering look at the latest energy industry solution to climate change. Woody biomass has become the fossil-fuel industry’s renewable, green savior. The film focuses on the people and parties who are both fighting against and promoting its adoption and use. “I thought we were well-informed about biomass, but we were stunned at what we learned,” co-director Lisa Merton told the Times Standard. “Most environmentalists think that biomass is fine because trees grow back, but it takes a long time and it’s not a renewable source on that timeline or in that timescale.” Join Lisa, along with producer Chris Hardee and Dr. Mary Booth (who appears in the film) for a discussion of this vital topic.
