"On the other side of the villages was the vast, infinite Forest. It was the land of mystery, lore and legend and I had always been drawn to it...When my eyes alighted on it, everything came together once more. I knew what I had to do. I needed to leave. I needed to dream. I was going to be a revolutionary, simply now because I had that eternal currency that all revolutions deal in: Hope."
Unhappy with the stifling monotony of everyday life, a storyteller decides to leave everything behind. The First Storyteller recounts the incredible and transformative journey that the storyteller embarks upon. Through a wide variety of styles and genres, the book draws upon the very idea of stories to bring to you a unique tale that is simultaneously funny, tragic and hopeful. It brings to the forefront the emotional turmoil of a deeply conflicted individual, and in the end, the question becomes not what is at the end of the path, but whether the person who starts the journey would be the same as the one who ends it.

The book is like being around an old friend - and isnât that ...
The first storyteller is one of those books that you start reading in the middle of the afternoon and find yourself finishing at 5 a.m., wondering what year it is. The book is like being around an old friend - and isnât that the perfect cure for a day that you clearly rolled out of the wrong side of the bed into? YES, ITâS THAT GOOD.
Have you ever been in a situation wherein unreasonable suffering seems the only task left in your life that suicide seems to be a very reasonable option? Thought that breathing is a disease only death can cure? Thought that living only extends the misery and torment you've already took? Felt the vacuum of meaningless suffering sucking the life out of you like a black hole? If yes, then you haven't read this book. On a scale of 1 to 5, It deserves a perfect 10.
I donât even know how to describe this book. Itâs beautiful, heart-breaking, yet very comfortingâall at the same time. This book takes you on a journey of healing and self-discovery. It's dramatic, yet ultimately inspiring. It's fresh, it's well written, it is addictive and so full of precious content. It's poignant and stays with you, Some people don't want to think, they want a fluffy escape. This is not a fluffy escape.
As I turned each page I realised "oh my God! This is my life and I'm not alone.â
Once you spot the synopsis, you can not not wonder what the story is about and would be like to know further (unless you're some form of an oppressor of fantasy or just plain dismisser of anything one-of-a-kind). Even if you wouldn't read, you'd still wonder... and then perhaps turn that wonder into a plan to find out what it's all about.
Itâs a roller coaster of emotions. Itâs a revolution. So is the storyteller. âI needed to dream. I was going to be a revolutionary, simply now because I had that eternal currently all revolutions deal in: Hopeâ
One of the books that has the potential to change the face of Indian Literature.
In this book, Varun addresses how to find deep personal worth while living in a world that is constantly bombarded by messages of who, what, and how we should be.
