Honeybees have been a key piece of the environmental movement in the United States for decades. During the 2000’s and 2010’s there was a big push and popularity of the “Save the Bees” tag line that continues to this day as a call to action, donation, and conservation. But what if all the “Save the Bees” campaigns weren't saving the right ones?
I interviewed native bee specialist Dr. James Hung (he/him) to discuss the history, ecology and conservation of our amazing native bee species and the ways that they need much more help than the Honeybee does.
So strap in and learn about a Mayan god, bees that drink your sweat, and some of the amazing supersonic bees that make tomatoes happen!
