When Jin Sakai and Lord Shimura were standing at the outer gate after capturing Fort Ito, they suddenly saw Yuna riding a horse towards them. As she approached, Yuna announced that many Mongol soldiers were following her.
Sakai went forward and saw that a Mongol army was indeed approaching. They had a horse carriage with a lot of ammunition and supplies. Sakai then decided to use his new fire arrow. He shot a fire arrow from his bow and aimed it at the carriage. As soon as it caught fire, the ammunition inside exploded with a loud noise. Several Mongol soldiers were killed instantly in the explosion.
However, two soldiers survived and advanced forward to fight. Lord Shimura fought one and Sakai fought the other. Yuna helped them by shooting arrows from a distance. After a short battle, they were able to defeat all the Mongol soldiers.
After the battle, the three of them stood and talked for a while. Sakai asked Yuna why she had come here. Yuna then asked when arrangements would be made for her and her brother to go to the mainland. Lord Shimura said that their work was not yet finished. They had to capture the Main Castle first. Only then would they arrange for a ship for Yuna and her brother to go to the mainland.
Lord Shimura then orders Sakai to set fire to a nearby lighthouse, so that everyone in the area will know that the fort is now in their hands. The three of them enter and head towards the tower. Once there, Yuna says that there are many warriors from the Yarikawa region who can fight against the Mongols if they want. Lord Shimura is initially skeptical, but Sakai takes Yuna's side and says that the people of Yarikawa can join them. Finally, Lord Shimura agrees and says that if Yuna's people join the war, then after the war they will all be given the opportunity to go to the mainland. Yuna is happy with this and leaves.
Then Sakai and Lord Shimura climbed up the tower and lit a large torch. Lord Shimura said, "I hope that this fire will make Khotun Khan realize that we are not yet weak." Then they went down.
After going down, a woman came and told Sakai that a monk wanted to meet him. Sakai went and met the monk. His name was Norio. He came from the Cedar Temple, where the warrior monks lived.
Norio reports that after hearing about the Battle of Komoda Beach, many monks went south to fight against the Mongols. But they were outnumbered, so the Mongols captured and tortured many monks. Norio begs Sakai to rescue his monk brothers. Sakai assures him that he will definitely help rescue them.
