A terracotta flowerpot for storage, a rubber duck for emergencies, a flat stone for sitting, a garden hose for practically everything, and three warm loaves of bread from Mr. Bumberton's bakery. Each new addition sits the boat a little lower in the water, until the rim is barely a hedgehog-finger above the surface. Somehow, impossibly, it floats. And from his perch on top of the whole glorious pile, Chewy spots something far down the river — somewhere they've never been. With his map unrolled, Chip points them straight toward it.
