The Flying Karamazov Brothers Juggle on the Radio

Listen Later

WORT 89.9FM Madison · A Flying Karamazov Brother Juggles on the Radio
For 49 years, the Flying Karamazov Brothers have tossed a curious mix of juggling, street performance, circus, vaudeville, Shakespearean theater, slapstick comedy and Russian existential literature into the air and somehow managed to keep them all from hitting the ground.
Born at a San Francisco Renaissance Fair in 1973, the Karamazovs honed their act by performing on street corners, eventually enjoying long runs in London and performing at such illustrious events as the Los Angeles Olympics.
On Thursday, June 9th, they bring their latest act to Madison’s Overture Center.
A few of the Flying Karamazov Brothers join to discuss their group, notable challenges, and juggling. Paul Magid, also known as Dmitri Karamazov, is a founding member and director of the Flying Karamazov Brothers. Also joining is Stephen O’Bent, or “Zossima”; Andy Sapora, or “Nikita”; and Roderick Kimball, or “Pavel.”
