The infield shift is a widely used phenomenon in baseball. From the four-man outfields to the crazy shifts against lefties, the infield shift is important to the game today. But the invention of it didn't come by Vanderbilt, the Rays, or any other big powerhouse team. Instead, the idea, as well as the development of it came from a small D-3 school called Oberlin. Now, the idea went up and down, but the idea stayed the same. Stop lefties and pull hitters.
