You ever see someone order a triple cheeseburger, large fries… and a Diet Coke?
Like — yeah, that’ll balance it out.
That’s double talk 101: canceling the damage with a token of virtue.
And believe it or not, Christians do this too.
We say “I’m forgiven through Christ’s sacrifice,”
then act like we need to ask again and again to stay on God’s good side.
That’s the Forgiveness Trap — and it’s exhausting.
In today’s episode of Grace Uncensored, Billy McDonald exposes one of the most common forms of Christian Double Talk: believing we’re forgiven once for all, yet living like forgiveness is a subscription that auto-renews every night.
Discover:
Why guilt can feel spiritual — but isn’t.
The difference between Old Covenant and New Covenant forgiveness.
Why 1 John 1:9 was never meant as a Christian guilt cycle.
How to rest in the finished work of Christ — not chase forgiveness like a paycheck.
Key Scriptures:
Hebrews 10:14 — “For by one sacrifice He has made perfect forever those who are being made holy.”
Romans 6:14 — “Sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under law but under grace.”
Hebrews 8:12 — “I will remember their sins no more.”
If you’ve ever wondered:
“Why do I keep feeling unforgiven?”
“Am I supposed to confess every sin?”
“What happens when I blow it again?”
…then this episode is for you.
Stop striving for forgiveness — start living from it.
Grace isn’t “Jesus gave you a clean slate — now keep it clean.”
Grace is “Jesus is your clean slate — forever.”
