It’s June 26, 1972, and two Police officers in South Africa are going about their duties. Fort Beaufort is a small area, established in 1837, and is a town in the Amatole District of South Africa's Eastern Cape Province. Called to a site in the area, a small piece of woodland, the officers entered a glade. There, in front of them was something the officers had no training to handle; a silver coloured object hovering above the ground. The object just hung there, defying all gravity, stubbornly silent. The Officers could see no one adjacent to the object, and, understandably alarmed, they took out their service revolvers, and fired at the intruder.
What happened to those rounds is unknown. The bullets seemed to vanish before making contact with the craft, as if hitting something shielding the invader. Instead, as silently as it floated, the object rose slowly above the trees, and shot off at altitude at high speed.
The officers filed their reports and what, exactly was visiting the town of Fort Beaufort has never been discovered. Ordinarily, this case would be dismissed, but the officers never changed their story, and additional civilian witnesses back up the account
