Critic Reviews:
"Patrick O'Brian writes as brilliantly as ever. The Fortune of War is a marvellously full-flavoured, engrossing book, which towers over its current rivals in the genre like a three decker over a ship's longboat." (Times Literary Supplement)

Yet another great book in this series.
Maturin shows a tougher side and achieves his own special victory while Aubrey is carried on the tides of war.
Wonderful book
If you watched and liked Russell Crowe in "Master and Commander" then you should buy the whole series of books. They are very well written and provide an excellent glimpse into the Royal Navy at the turn of the 1800's. Very enjoyable and I do hope that the movie has sequels in the works/
Exciting, intrigue and action.
I found this book in a bit of emotion wondering the fate of Jack and Stephen after their encounter with Constitution. The return of Villiers. Would her return cause more pain to Stephen? Some really good twists and intrigue.
Readable O'Brian
This is my second reading of the series. Not since Forester has anyone captured the flavor of the British Navy as O'brian has. Most enjoyable.
