From her humble beginnings in the township of KwaMashu, Swazi Dlamini started her music career as a vocalist for the gospel group, Joyous Celebration. In 2003, her debut album: My First Love was awarded the 2004 SAMA for Best Female Artist. In 2004, she won a Kora Award for Most Promising African Female Artist. Her second album: Dance with Me showed off her voice by covering a range of styles, including R&B, jazz, gospel and blues. It garnered nominations for Best Contemporary Jazz album at both the Samas and the Metro FM Awards in 2006.
