In this sermon, we examine the fruit of the Spirit, with a particular focus on joy as a vital aspect of our Christian witness, as outlined in Galatians 5. Joy is not optional but a command from God, rooted in the supernatural work of the Holy Spirit, not in fleeting circumstances. Jesus is the sole source of true, unshakable joy, as seen in scriptures like Psalm 16:11 and John 15:11, where joy flows from abiding in God’s grace. This joy, produced in us when we are deeply rooted in Christ rather than the world’s lies, becomes a powerful testimony to others, shining as a reflection of God’s grace even amidst suffering. As Charles Spurgeon noted, a Christian’s life is their best sermon. If struggling with joy, we are called to repent and replant our roots in the rich soil of God’s grace through Jesus, the living water, to experience His fullness of joy.
