According to Ed, the biggest technical challenge standing in the way of full automation is getting the logic and AI right. The issue is whether the systems are going to be able to handle all the different situations, as they ultimately must do. This is a mind-boggling software and simulation challenge. Trust is also a social issue that will still be a long time in coming, though will inevitably arrive.
