"A terrific book." (The Spectator)
"Stephen has a feel for the momentory decisions that can help to shape the course of history - as well, of course, as the cowardice, vainglory and greed." (The Times)

A Wonderfull Swim
This is a thoroughly engrossing swim through the English Channel with both Drake and the Armarda. You don't quite know what Henry Greham is up to until the last but, like Manion, you are ready to defend him which ever way that he turns. A great listen - it made me go and order the rest of Martin Stephen's books on Audible.
A tale of Elizabethan treachery and deceit
Henry Gresham is he an agent, double agent, triple agent, a traitor or an honourable man. Gresham and his manservant Manion step carefully and sometimes savagely through treacherous Elizabethan England and Europe. A gripping tale.
I loved it!
This is the most enjoyable book I have read in a long time. The History is quite a big part of this, and if you know the History it will add to your enjoyment, but it is a great action fillled listen without that. A brilliant naration as well!
Tudor history brought to life.
Martin Stephen brings his academic knowledge of the late Tudor and early Stuart period to life with his stories of intrigue and derring do featuring Henry Gresham. This episode covers the late Elizabethan era and the tensions between Spain and England leading to the attempted invasion with the aid of the mighty Spanish Armada. Henry Gresham, as an agent of an aging Walsingham, or is he an double, or triple agent, is tasked with gaining the confidence of the Spanish court. A real swashbuckling adventure well read and characterised by Michael Tudor Barnes.
Excellent listen
One of the most memorable introductions. The words of Martin Stephen as read by Michael Tudor Barnes immediately pull you into the story. What happens next ?
