When God originally called Jeremiah in chapter 1 he told him that “You will be my prophet to the nations.” We have discussed God's plan for Israel but what about everyone else?

In our current modern age, we are more aware than ever before what is occurring in nations around the world. And this global awareness can have many positive benefits such as our ability to respond to needs around the world, but it has one major downside. We are now aware of the suffering of 8 billion people. That level of pain can cripple the mind of any believer unless you are aware of God's plan and heart for the nations.

When you see evil rulers around the world you need to know deep in your heart what God thinks about evil otherwise it will overwhelm you. In this episode we discuss how God deals with rebellious nations and what his plan is for everyone.

Let’s move beyond Christianity 101 and into the raw, honest prayers of a prophet who didn’t hold back. The book of Jeremiah contains six recorded prayers, and through each one, we see something deeply personal: how to pray when life is hard and how God responds.

Sometimes God answers with protection. Sometimes with correction. And sometimes, with silence.

But silence isn’t absence. God doesn’t need to defend Himself and He has never wronged His people. When He seems quiet, our calling remains the same: preach on, stay faithful, and continue running the race set before us.

This episode will help you understand what faithful prayer really looks like, not polished or perfect, but honest, persistent, and rooted in trust.

How does God respond to repeated disobedience? In this episode, we look through Jeremiah 1–25, listening closely to two voices, the person speaking and the people he’s addressing. What message keeps rising to the surface? How does God respond when His warnings are ignored? And what does that mean for us today? God gives a sobering and deeply personal answer in Jeremiah 9.

In the Christian life there's probably nothing more disheartening than repetitive sin. Like the person that has followed Jesus for years but still struggles with porn addiction, or the Christian that struggles with an unhealthy attachment to food, or the person that continually goes to money as a source of peace and strength.

One of the scariest verses in scripture for me is 1 Corinthians 10:12, it says "therefore let anyone who thinks that he stands take heed lest he fall." This warning comes to those of us that have been following the Lord for a while because one of the things that can occur for a Christian that's been following God for some time is that they can get overconfident in their own righteous behavior. 

We all must realize that none of us are invulnerable to sin and its temptations. This week in the series How To Run With Horses, we discuss how Israel went from a God honoring nation to a disobedient nation and what we can do to make sure we don't make the same mistake.

Obviously, Christmas is a time of joy and family and generosity but something that cannot be taken out of the story is the amount of violence and evil. I understand why this is often overlooked because you don't want to tarnish or minimize the amount of joy that we can experience in this time as we celebrate the birth of our savior. But our world is not clean now, nor was it in the time of Jesus and we should never attempt to fully sanitize it. Jesus comes on to the scene during a time of intense violence and confusion. I'm not trying to end the advent season on an overly sad note, but I need you to understand that the conditions that existed during the time of Jesus are remarkably similar to the conditions that our world is experiencing right now. Violence and chaos and confusion do not forbid a movement of God. In fact I would argue it allows God to gain more glory when he moves in difficult circumstances. So for our last advent week, let's talk about Herod.

Sometimes on meaningful dates and seasons, the enemy works overtime to pull us into discouragement, anything to keep us from being renewed and inspired about what God is building.

Mary’s prayer reminds us to push back, to stand firm, and to fight against depression and spiritual discouragement with the truth of God’s faithfulness. The goal this advent isn’t to learn something new, it’s to be re-inspired by the way God moved through the life of a teenage girl who said yes.

Let's take a look at God’s calling to Jeremiah and how we can find God’s calling for our own lives through his. 

Sometimes, the grit that is needed out of you, isn't even for you, it’s for someone coming after you. Just like Daniel watched Jeremiah, the strength you grow now might be shaping someone else’s faith down the road.

We also break down the three areas where God calls us: relationships, vocation, and education, and talk honestly about how, because we’re human and we get scared, we sometimes reject the calling God has on our lives.

You know what I think? I think we are bored. I think we’re numb. I think much of modern Christianity has lost touch with the power of our God. We want to explain him, not know him. We want his blessing, but not his call to obedience. We want unending success, without knowing the hard reality of the suffering He calls us to.
Enter Jeremiah. The book of Jeremiah gives a glimpse into God's heart for stubborn, bored, and numb people. Jeremiah stands firm in a culture that has abandoned God and shuns his prophets. At one point the evil culture overwhelmed Jeremiah and he cried out to God asking for help. God replies, (12:5) “If you have raced with men on foot and they have worn you out, how can you compete with horses?"

God is calling you to supernatural endurance and faith. To stand when everyone else quits. Through this series we will let Jeremiah train us to run this race with endurance. Are you ready to run with horses?
