On August 16, 1942, A U.S. Navy Blimp also known as L-8 or The Ghost Blimp left port at 6:03 A.M. from Treasure Island, San Francisco. On board were the flight crew, Pilot Lieutenant Ernest Dewitt Cody, 27, and Co-Pilot Ensign Charles Adams, 35. This was Adam's first flight. Also on the Blimp were two depth charges, a .30 caliber machine gun, top secret documents, emergency rafts.Support the show
