At Christmas time, we seldom long for "practical" gifts. We want something big and impractical! Oftentimes we look at the birth of Jesus in that way, for although the gift of his birth was absolutely necessary for our salvation, we can have a tendency to think of it as merely "practical" and miss out on the magnitude of this wonderful gift.
