Boston lady finds love with a New Mexico rancher and a daddy for her little girl.
Just finished this book enjoyed it very much. Maddy had a lot come on her all at once. First a marriage proposal by a man she didn't know then becoming a mother. She had special friends to help her in Frank and Sarah. Then she got this notion to be a mail order bride to this man in New Mexico because of her first marriage proposal. When she did here back from the MAN in New Mexico she and her friends went away. The first one they met was Jeremiah and he thought they were up to no good he didn't want Phillip hurt. But before he could do anything about Maddy and her friends met Philip he fell in love with them all. Maddy also found out he was more like her grandfather. Jeremiah even had Maddie checked out by the sheriff. She had been accused by the guy who wanted to marry her of theft which was all untrue. The man came looking for her and accused her of it all but she had told her story already. Her accuser ended up finding the LORD. Jeremiah feel in love more and more with Maddy but he wasn't a Christian yet and he also thought Philip was going to marry her and that upset him . After talking to Philip about this and about coming to the LORD things changed for the better. Jeremiah started courting Maddy she also got reward from her fathers will. All ended as it should Jeremiah and Madeline were married.

1890...Golden, New Mexico, a booming mining town with a shortage of marriageable women. I am sure it was a bit surprising to the townsfolk of Golden when the old wealthy miner, Philip Smith, sent for a mail-order bride. His good friend Jeremiah Dennison certainly was and even more surprised when a young woman from Boston, Madeleine Mercer, agrees to be his bride. Philip has a unique method of choosing his bride (I wonât share so as not to spoil it) which I found very interesting and thoroughly enjoyed. Philip has his reasons and will share them at the appropriate time...Godâs time. Many of the characters became favorites, Philip of course, Jeremiah, Madeleine and baby Pearl and some of the secondary characters. Woven within the story-line, among the suspense and romance, is a spiritual thread of faith and hope, forgiveness and compassion, what true-love is and how to live it out each day.
