Gebran Bassil, a former Lebanese minister and the leader of the Free Patriotic Movement was sanctioned by the USA based on the Magnitsky Act and being accused of playing a major role in corruption in Lebanon.

Bassil replied claiming that the measure was unjust and politically motivated.
