This kind of event brings warmth to our hearts and in some cases even

reassures us about the state of humanity. But when Jesus first told the

story, it was offensive, shocking, and scandalous. He told this story

to challenge His listeners to a different way of looking at others. As

we read this familiar story, let’s dig into the original impact of the

story. And then let’s open our hearts to the challenge God has for us

in acts of kindness and compassion – especially when we have every

excuse to just walk right by.
