The Good Shepherd
In this powerful message from Gospel of John 10:14–16, we are reminded that Jesus is not just a shepherd — He is the Good Shepherd. He knows His sheep. He calls them by name. He laid down His life so that we could be brought back to the Father and become part of one flock under one Shepherd.Through the truth of Gospel of Luke 19:10, we see the heart of Christ: He came to seek and save the lost. The gospel is not exclusive — both Jew and Gentile are brought in through faith. As Epistle to the Romans 10:9–10 declares, salvation comes by believing in your heart and confessing Jesus as Lord.This message also shares a powerful testimony of how the Good Shepherd rescued a life on the brink of suicide, demonstrating that when the church prays and preaches the gospel, the lost are brought home. Jesus still saves. He still restores. He still gives eternal and abundant life.In Gospel of John 10:27–29, we are given this assurance: His sheep hear His voice, follow Him, and are securely held in the Father’s hand. Abundant life is found in listening to and following the voice of Jesus. The Father keeps His own.Just as a mother cares for and protects her newborn puppies, the Good Shepherd faithfully watches over, feeds, and guards His sheep. His care is intentional and personal.The gospel is the power of God unto salvation (Romans 1:16). When we preach it, we participate in heaven’s mission — bringing the lost back to the Shepherd.Finally, in the Great Commission from Gospel of Matthew 28:19–20 and Jesus’ charge to Peter in Gospel of John 21:15–17, we are called to more than belief — we are called to discipleship. If we love Jesus, we feed His sheep. We go into our city, our workplaces, our schools, and make disciples. We give what we have received — the love of God and the Word of God — and God gives the increase.This message casts vision for FPG Church:Be a disciple. Make disciples.
