The Good Shepherd

Please turn in your Bibles to John 10:1-42
“I and the Father are one.” John 10:30
“I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”
John 10:10b
“Very truly I tell you, I am the gate for the sheep. John 10:7
“I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved.
They will come in and go out, and find pasture.” John 10:9
App: there are forces at work to destroy, but God has made a way to real life
“I am the good shepherd.” John 10:11a
1: Jesus is the Good Shepherd
“I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”
John 10:10b
“There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.”
Proverbs 14:12, 16:25
“I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” 11“I AM the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep. 12 The hired hand is not the shepherd and does not own the sheep. So when he sees the wolf coming, he abandons the sheep and runs away. Then the wolf attacks the flock and scatters it. 13 The man runs away because he is a hired hand and cares nothing for the sheep. 14 I AM the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me—15 just as the Father knows me and I know the Father—and I lay down my life for the sheep. 16 I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd. John 10:10b-16
2: Jesus is the owner
I know my sheep and my sheep know me— John 10:14b
3: Jesus lays down His life for the sheep
The good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep. John 10:11b
“Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.”
John 15:13
4: Jesus has sheep of different folds
I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd. John 10:16
“…this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as
a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.” Matthew 24:14

1: You can say, “I hear what you're saying, but no way; not me
“Come now, and let us reason together,” Says the LORD, “Though

2: You can say, "Of course He loves me”
"Of course He loves me" when compared to everyone else
“Since they did not know the righteousness of God and sought to establish
their own, they did not submit to God’s righteousness.” Romans 10:3
"Of course He loves me because I’m spiritual”
“…this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true
God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. John 17:3
3: You can say, “I want to know Him and surrender my life to Him
