Publisher's Summary:
Charlie Howard - mystery writer and incorrigible thief - is in for a tough vacation in Las Vegas. Losing at poker is one thing, but to find his literary agent, Victoria, being charmed by the Fifty-Fifty casino resort's star magician, Josh Masters, is another irritation entirely. Still, Charlie's not one to hold a grudge, especially when he could be holding Masters' wallet. A spot of burglary seems in order and Charlie's only too happy to oblige.
But it's not long before Charlie and Victoria find themselves threatened with a one-way trip into the desert unless they can conjure up a small fortune in 24 hours. For Charlie, there's only one course of action: break into as many hotel rooms as he can, steal as much as possible, and hope that Victoria can summon Lady Luck to the gaming table. Mind you, it would all be a lot easier if Charlie hadn't stumbled upon a dead woman, and if Josh Masters hadn't vanished in the middle of his act.
Members Reviews:
Great series...
I really enjoy listening to these stories. Plots are not too complicated which makes them great to listen to when driving.
Charlie just tell Victoria how you feel and vice versa.
Not as good as the one set in paris
Would you try another book written by Chris Ewan or narrated by Simon Vance?
Yes to both, as I have already got the next book in the series set in Venice and I enjoy simon vances performance of the books.
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
It was a good ending bringing all the threads together.
What does Simon Vance bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you had only read the book?
The book is told in the first person and Simon Vance takes the persona of the main character and brings him to life. He is reasonably good at female characters voices which some male readers are not.
If this book were a film would you go see it?
No as enjoyed the audio version of the book and film adaptions of books are often a let down.
Any additional comments?
I found part of the story far fetched but it is fiction and I haven't been to vegas gambling in the casinos.
Lighthearted fun
What made the experience of listening to The Good Thief's Guide to Vegas the most enjoyable?
The writing lends itself well to audio, and the narrator was a good choice for the material.
Loving the Series
I've always wanted to visit Vegas and in Chris Ewan's captivating adventure 'The Good Thief's Guide to Vegas' you don't only get a tour of this great and exciting city but a thumping good story too!
Following on from his latest great adventure in Paris, Charlie Howard and his literary agent Victoria unwittingly fall straight into another adventure that takes them into the dark side of Vegas. Given 24 hours to come up with $160,000 dollars or find the culprit who got them into this fix; the alternative is a one way ticket into the desert and a bullet in the head. Simon Vance's narration adds just the right suspense.
Great audio book, I can't wait for the next in the series.
