This episode we have on writer, director, editor, and cinematographer and personal friend, Jared Skolnick. Jared and I have worked on several projects over the years including my first script, Girl in the Basement. He’s an incredibly astute filmmaker with a lot of experience watching and talking about films. If you know one thing about Jared it’s his love for Steven Spielberg, but when I first started talking to Jared he mentioned having never seen Goonies (1985)! He’s exactly the right age to have seen it as a child, but somehow missed out. While Spielberg didn’t directly direct Goonies, he did have an exceptionally large influence on it- even stepping in directing a few of the scenes for Richard Donner. Will we find a rare deviation from Jared’s love, or will we help him get over the trepidation that there could be something in his oeuvre that he might not like?
