It is a shock to human beings that we are dead to God without his intervention. Paul said it this way, "The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, because they are spiritually discerned" (1 Corinthians 2:14).

God does not play favorites. Even Peter, who earlier gave a blessed confession of the identity of Jesus, proved that he could not accept the things that come from God. Jesus gave the plan of salvation that included his suffering and death. Peter didn't hesitate to jump on Jesus' plan with disgust. Peter was quickly corrected by the divine correction of Truth Incarnate. This divine correction is still alive and ready to save anyone who would humbly bow to the truth of Jesus Christ.
