The purpose of the Gospel is only to give us what we need to live faithfully in order to get to Heaven. It is not obligated to explain the meaning of life or why bad things happen to good people. The Light is what fights the darkness of this world. It protects us from all of the evil (the Scripture's definition) and helps us to stay on the straight and narrow path.
