THE GOSPEL CANNOT BE SILENCED---Luke 13-31-33-31 On that very day some Pharisees came, saying to Him, -Get out and depart from here, for Herod wants to kill You.- -32 And He said to them, -Go, tell that fox, 'Behold, I cast out demons and perform cures today and tomorrow, and the third day I shall be perfected.' -33 Nevertheless I must journey today, tomorrow, and the day following- for it cannot be that a prophet should perish outside of Jerusalem.---1. Introduction--- Focus on two characters - Herod Antipas and Jesus.--- The Herodians in the life of Jesus.--- Herod the Great- in the infanthood and childhood of Jesus. Matt 2-16, 19-22--- Herod Antipas- in the early part of the ministry of Jesus. Luke 3-1, 9-7-9----2. Has the pursuit of ambitions silenced your ears to the voice of the gospel---- Who is the king of the Jews---- Herod Antipas plotted to kill Jesus. v31----3. Has the pursuit of ambitions silenced your ears to the voice of God---- Who are you to speak against the king---- Herod Antipas beheaded the forerunner of Jesus, John the Baptist. Matt 14-1-12, Mark 6-14-29, Luke 9-9--- Herod Antipas retaliated against Jesus during Jesus' trial. Luke 23-8-11---4. Has anyone silenced the voice of the Church---- Why do the nations rage and the people plot a vain thing---- Herod Antipas' joy in the death of Jesus was short-lived. --- Has he forgotten Jesus' words- v32,33--- The resurrected Jesus speaks---Matt 28-18-20--All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you
