Many today believe that the gospel is only for unbelievers. It is thought that we believe the gospel and then move on to greater things; that we take over ourselves. But is this what the Scripture teaches? Absolutely not.
In his letter to the Galatians, Paul warns against two dangers: the first is mixing the gospel of grace with anything we can contribute on our own.
