The Gospel of Mark is a powerful account of Jesus Christ’s life and ministry. In the first chapter, we’re introduced to John the Baptist, who prepares the way for the Lord’s coming. As Jesus is baptized by John, the heavens open up and God the Father declares, “You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased.”

From there, Jesus is driven into the wilderness to be tempted by Satan for 40 days. He emerges victorious and begins his ministry in Galilee, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom of God. Jesus calls his first disciples—Simon, Andrew, James, and John—who leave everything to follow him.
