Nicodemus came to Jesus because deep down he knew something was missing in his life. Outwardly, he seemed to have a life that was put together in every way, but he had a nagging, gnawing feeling that something wasn't right spiritually. Jesus looked into his heart, and saw his need, and began to deal with his spiritual need.

The first miracle of Jesus at the wedding in Cana, when He turned the water into wine, brought great joy to those gathered for the occasion. It also marked the beginning of joy-filled times - times in which Jesus would bring great joy throughout Israel with His miracles that touched so many times. Special note: this account is used to justify two ideas, one that is dangerous and the other is a damnable heresy. These two false ideas were addressed at the end of the message.

When Andrew and John wanted to know where Jesus dwelled, He told them to "Come and see". When Nathanael asked Philip if anything good could come out of Nazareth, Philip said to him, "Come and see." All believers have at least one someone who invited them to "come and see". And after we have seen and believed, we are responsible to tell others to "come and see".

After his introductory prologue, John began his proof "that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God" (see John 20:31) by calling John the Baptist to the witness stand, as it were. John the Baptist gave a humble testimony that Jesus is "the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world" and He is "the Son of God".
