God purposed for me to live with my hopes and affections set on heaven
Colossians 3 : 1-2 & 4 (NIV)
Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. [...] 4 When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.
A faulty understanding of heaven destines me to a faulty life on earth
John 14:1-3 (NIV)
“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. 2 My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.
Thinking heaven is clouds, harps & cute baby angels is bad theology God will make everything right that was made wrong in the Garden of Eden
What Happens if I Die Today?
Christ Followers will be in heaven instantly
Luke 23:43 (NIV)
Jesus answered him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.”
You will meet people you know
Hebrews 12:1 (NIV)
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses,
You will have a perfect spiritual body
an imperishable body 1 Corinthians 15:42
You will feel instantly at home
your citizenship is in heaven Philippians 3:20
Angels will escort you to your new home
Luke 16:22 a parable of Jesus
“Jesus will confess your name before the Father”
Revelations 3:5 & Mattew 10:32
You will be fully aware of your life
on earth Martyrs cry out to God for justice
Revelation 6:9-10
There will be no doubt that
Jesus is in charge

At once I was in the Spirit, and there before me was a throne in heaven with someone sitting on it. 3 And the one who sat there had the appearance of jasper and ruby. A rainbow that shone like an emerald encircled the throne. […] 5 From the throne came flashes of lightning, rumblings and peals of thunder.

New Jerusalem with walls & gates
Gates made of a single pearl

Jesus will be all the light we need
There will be Nations, kings, cities
