This is a very special Everything and the Kitchen Sink folks. It’s the Grass-Roots-Rhythm –Rock-Chorus in Support of Strummerfest.ca .

Strummerfest: the music festival is coming to Toronto, Ontario and every December it’s hosted in Kitchener Ontario. Because of the amount of sponsors and requests the Grass-Roots-Rhythm-Rock-Chorus received there will be now TWO shows instead of one. And perhaps if more folks donate to support Strummerfest, I’ll EVEN add on another show! Brace yourselves for another EatKS Special on Feb 21st!

(I will still put out at least one regular EatKS show for the lovely listeners)

An important message from the Strummerfest website:

“Strummerfest does not just want to be about the music.  It never did.  Our slogan is, “Music, Memory, Charity.”  This spells out our priorities in order from lowest to highest.

The charity we seek to express and support is prevention of suicide.  Why?  Because nothing is more contrary to the idea of life’s inherent value; and nothing is more terminally undermining of the optimistic hope and faith in humanity that Strummer valued and sought to express in his music.   We really believe life matters.  We really believe that suicide is an awful tragedy that needs to be stopped.  We really mourn over every life lost, so needlessly wasted, and wish that we could have helped someone find the answers they need to hang on, because, as those of us who’ve been through depression, frustration and fear know, things will get better if you can hang on.”

“And so now I'd like to say - people can change anything they want to. And that means everything in the world. People are running about following their little tracks - I am one of them. But we've all got to stop just following our own little mouse trail. People can do anything - this is something that I'm beginning to learn. People are out there doing bad things to each other. That's because they've been dehumanised. It's time to take the humanity back into the center of the ring and follow that for a time. Greed, it ain't going anywhere. They should have that in a big billboard across Times Square. Without people you're nothing. That's my spiel.” - Joe Strummer
