At Paris’s VivaTech conference, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang fired back at Anthropic chief Dario Amodei’s prediction that AI could eliminate half of all entry-level white-collar jobs and push unemployment to 20 percent within five years. “I pretty much disagree with almost everything,” Huang said, accusing Amodei of believing AI is so scary and so expensive that “only they [Anthropic] should do it,” and of claiming “everyone will lose their jobs.” Huang argued the opposite: AI, done openly and responsibly, will create new opportunities and expand businesses, not shut them down. Anthropic, founded by Amodei after his departure from OpenAI, insists its focus on safety and ethics doesn’t mean they’re the only ones who can build powerful AI.
