But the shock of the story isn’t the feast itself. It’s the guest list.Those who were expected to come refuse the invitation. They’re distracted, preoccupied, convinced they have better things to do. And so the host does something outrageous. He widens the invitation. He sends his servants into the streets, the alleys, the forgotten corners of the city. He gathers the poor, the broken, the overlooked, the ones who never imagined they’d be welcomed to a king’s table.
