There’s an air of excitement in late autumn as we prepare to witness one of the world’s greatest animal migrations. Sandhill Cranes have returned from the brink of extinction and are crossing the continent by the tens of thousands again and they’re coming right through Wisconsin!

Dr. Richard Beilfuss, President and CEO of the International Crane Foundation (ICF), joins host Patrick Sajbel to talk about the Sandhill Crane migration and the upcoming Great Midwest Crane Fest held jointly by the Aldo Leopold Foundation and ICF in Baraboo, WI on Nov. 10-12, 2022.

As a professional Hydrologist, Beilfuss has been worked on water management and wetland restoration across Asia and Africa. And he also talks about Wisconsin’s crane families, teenage crane gangs and even public displays of affection by crane couples.
