Television and the internet are very engaging. Food is tasty and affordable. Social media presents carefully curated views of people's lives.

Advertising and popular media seek to make you unhappy. They foster a false notion of what it means to be successful. They set false expectations in order to compel you to purchase products. The media sells materialism, and promises that happiness can be obtained through consumption. The promises are false. Contentment does not come through over consumption.

Be mindful of how you spend your time and attention. Appreciate the beauty of Islam. Seek to obtain knowledge and attain piety. Develop and maintain good relationships with the rightly guided. Islam is a source of blessings.
