Let me say upfront that I have no philosophical problem whatsoever with giving a comedian an award celebrating freedom of speech. In fact, I doubt – seriously doubt – that there is any group of people more deserving of such recognition overall. So when the Anti-Defamation League chose Sasha Cohen Baron as the recipient for International Leadership when it comes to standing up against racism and for free speech, I am fine with that.

Where I fall off of the horse is when in his acceptance speech, he doesn’t just fail to recognize what free speech actually means, he calls for full-on suppression of free speech. which is, of course, defined as speech with which he personally disagrees.

Now look, I get that there are a whole bunch of idiots out there who believe damn foolish things and seem to have no filter. But is it really the prevailing belief of people in this country that the ONLY way to deal with this is to make them STFU?
