Hi Folks

This weeks theme of "memories" has me excited to play a Doc Watson song called "The Greenville Trestle High".

In this song the author is reminsicing about his youth and the sounds of trains going over the The Greenville Trestle

which is a railway bridge.

The song normally only has 3 verse but I wanted to make my version a little longer since its just my nylon guitar and vocals.

Ive combined the first half of the first verse with the second half of the second verse to make a 4th verse....that line that goes...

"With the black smoke trailing back

As they moved along the track
That runs across that Greenville trestle high"

Is to much fun to only sing once so yeah I sing it agian to end out the song.

I hope you guys enjoy my version of this old train song.

"The Greenville Trestle High"

I remember as a boy

How In wonderment and joy
I'd watch the trains as they'd go by
And the whistle's lonesome sound
You could hear for miles around
As they rolled across that Greenville trestle high

… But the whistles don't sound like they used to

Lately not many trains go by
Hard times across the land
Mean no work for a railroad man
And the Greenville trestle now don't seem so high

… On the river bank I'd stand

With a cane pole in my hand
Watch the freight trains up against the sky
With the black smoke trailing back
As they moved along the track
That runs across that Greenville trestle high

… But the whistles don't sound like they used to

Lately not many trains go by
Hard times across this land
Mean no work for a railroad man
And the Greenville trestle now don't seem so high

… When the lonesome whistles whine

I get ramblin' on my mind
And, I wish they still sounded that way
As I turned to head for home
Lord, she'd rumble low and long
Toward the sunset at the close of day

… No, the whistles don't sound like they used to

Lately not many trains go by
Hard times across the land
Mean no work for a railroad man
And the Greenville trestle now don't seem so high
No, the Greenville trestle now don't seem so high

I remember as a boy

How In wonderment and joy
I'd watch the trains as they'd go by
With the black smoke trailing back
As they moved along the track
That runs across that Greenville trestle high

But, the whistles don't sound like they used to

Lately not many trains go by
Hard times across the land
Mean no work for a railroad man
And the Greenville trestle now don't seem so high
No, the Greenville trestle now don't seem so high
