Born in Los Angeles on August 30, 1952 Lonnie David Franklin JR was raised in South Central L.A. He married a Belizean woman, Sylvia, with whom he has two children. He has served in the U.S. Army, receiving a general discharge in 1975.  He is dubbed the "Grim Sleeper" because he appeared to have taken a "14-year break" from his crimes.
