For the Christian girls in "hot girl summer", we see you. We know how hard it is to be torn between the moments of pleasure, of fun, of momentary satisfaction and what you know is right. We also know what it's like to feel convicted by making those choices.
Hot girl summer is great in the moment, but its not so great when you're laying in bed alone at night, questioning the choices you made that day.
We want you to know you are seen. You aren't alone in this struggle, and today we're sitting down to have a conversation on feeling conflicted during the summer months and offer you practical tips on how to stick to your morals while STILL having fun and enjoying your summer.
Having different morals doesn't mean you're boring. It just means you make different decisions.
Hola, Grit Vine Crew!
This is your captain, Mara, speaking solo today.
Today I'm sharing a story with you of how God showed up in the most incredible, obvious way when I thought he was so far from me.
Earlier this year, I was in the middle of a storm (figuratively and literally). It seemed like God was so distant. I kept thinking "God, where are you? Why aren't you seeing me?." Through the doubting, wresting, anxiety and the fear, God still showed up and reminded me of his promises through a FULL DOUBLE RAINBOW!
Are you feeling like God is far? Have you been doubting God's promises He made to you? Then listen in listen today, because this one is for you.
Today's show point's:
Welcome to the FINAL instalment of our "But, Lord I Can't Do That" series.
Calling all women who are afraid to start doing: this one is for you.
When we feel called to do something, it's easy to sit on it and pray. We like to think and ponder and wait until the moment is perfect to begin. But when we think too much, the negative thoughts come in and we stall on beginning.
So today, we're saying NO MORE to thinking. We want you to write your own permission slip to begin to go after that vision, that calling, or that dream.
Listen in today to learn how you can practically start to write this permission slip while including God in the process.
It's easy to look at someone else's life and see the great things they've been called to do and think "Why can she be doing that but I can't? How can I have her job, her personality, her voice, her presence, her calling? I want what she has."
If you're in a comparison trap, this episode is for you.
We're here to tell you today, your unique brand of beautiful is needed in the world. No one can add to the world in the same way you can. No one has the same influence, the same experiences or the same way of looking at the world that you do.
God has called YOU because of your unique experiences. He wants to use your voice, your talents and your passions for a reason.
Listen in today to hear how we can start to put down the comparisons, learn how we can come together as women and lift up others' incredible callings while still running after our own.
Welcome to Part 1 of our brand new series: "But Lord, I Can't Do That."
Have you ever asked God to use you? Have you held your hands up and said "Here I am send me?". But when God actually shows up and says, "Ok, here's what I want you to do", then you're like "NOPE!"
Thats too scary. I'm too old. I'm too fat. I'm too shy. I'm not qualified. I'm a mom now, I don't have the time. This isn't when I wanted to be called.
We make all these excuses as to why we can't do what God has called us to that eventually we convince ourselves that we must have heard God wrong.
Well, we're here to tell you, you heard Him exactly right. He wants to use you. Yes, little old YOU! With all your flaws, your insecurities, your baggage, your debt. He wants to use ALL of that!!
Listen in today to learn how you can start to take the steps toward what God is calling you too and leave the imposter syndrome behind.
You heard Him right. You were meant for great things.
If you held up a sign with all the labels that define you, what would it say?
Maybe it would say something like, "Fat, Unqualified, Damaged, Poor, Lost, Emotional, Annoying."
Perhaps you've given yourself these labels, or maybe someone else gave them to you. Either way, labels suck and they stop you from pursuing the life you deserve.
Listen in today to discover how you can unlearn the false labels you have and start to step into the truth of who you are.
In 2021, your instagram feed is your resume. You have the ability to create a portfolio of the version of yourself you want everyone to see.
Instagram and social media are great ways to show people your faith and the great news of Jesus, but more and more Christians have traded in their bibles for iPhones and are labeling their daily instagram post as their quality time with God.
In this week's episode, Mara & Danielle talk about what you can do to draw the line with social media posting vs. quality time with God and how to overcome your fear of sharing your faith publicly.
Are you feeling lost? Hurt by the church? Holding a lot of bitterness in your heart? If anyone can relate to that, it's todays guest, Alyssa.
From being a pastor's kid going to church 5 days a week and everyone knowing her name, to experiencing extreme judgement and scrutiny, Alyssa has seen all sides of the church and what it is capable of doing.
After walking away for 7 years, Alyssa found her way back to God and shares her story of how you don't have to have it all together to step back into God's love and the life he has for you.
No matter how long you've been lost, you are welcomed back home.
You've seen all the "self care" routines on Instagram & TikTok: Bubble baths, face masks, mani pedi's, and scented candles. These are great for immediate gratification and helping you "feel good". But they aren't truly self care.
True self care is:
