Is the internet changing amateur radio for the better, or are we losing something along the way? In Episode 79 of The Ham Radio Guy Podcast, Marvin W0MET explores the world of internet-linked amateur radio and two popular platforms: EchoLink and AllStarLink.

From connecting repeaters across the country to talking with fellow operators around the world, these systems have opened new possibilities for amateur radio communication. But they also raise an interesting question: When part of your conversation travels over the internet, is it still ham radio?

We'll explore the differences between EchoLink and AllStarLink, how internet-linked repeaters work, their advantages and limitations, and how these technologies fit into the future of amateur radio.

Whether you're a Technician just getting started, a repeater owner looking to expand coverage, or an experienced ham curious about internet linking, this episode offers a fresh perspective on how traditional RF and modern technology can work together.

What do you think? Is the internet saving ham radio, ruining it, or simply helping it evolve? Join the conversation!
