A friend on Mastodon suggested "dou-june-shi", where even if (or  especially if) we don't normally create fan works, we give it a go and  try to give our own spin to a canon that we love. I went with Jeff VanderMeer's Southern Reach trilogy. A prior expedition: the psychologist, the botanist, the linguist, the  physicist, and the architect camp near the tower, and, with the  architect already missing, the botanist struggles with the surreality of  Area X.
