Disclaimer: The title of the podcast is, "The Harrowing of Hell," which is the Catholic name for this concept. The podcast will not be solely focused on the Catholic view, but will aim to answer the question: Did Jesus descend into Hell?
Questions:
1) Did Jesus descend into Hell after His death?
2) What Scripture supports that?/Why is that accepted in the Church?
3) Why is it not accepted? Why is it controversial and sometimes removed from the Athanasian/Apostles’ creeds?
4) What did he do there?
5) Why did Jesus have to descend into Hell?
6) So would you say you line up with the “Harrowing of Hell” doctrine that’s taught in Catholicism?
7) Do you believe Jesus had to descend into Hell in order to free those that came before His time? As in, people like Adam, Eve, etc.? How does this line up with Elijah being taken up in a whirlwind or Enoch being taken without death in Genesis 5:24?
8) Did Jesus suffer when He went to Hell?
9) Doesn't Luke 23:43 say that Jesus went to paradise when he died?
10) What’s the significance of what He did?/Why is it important that he descended into Hell?
11) Is this intrinsic to our salvation? As in, if Jesus didn’t go into Hell, would we be unable to have salvation?
12) Is there anything specific we should take away from Jesus descending into Hell?
