If you grew up in the Harbor Area or South Bay part of Los Angeles you might have heard of the Vanderlip Mansion. The mansion is a beautiful Mediterranean-style home built in 1926 located in Palos Verdes, California.  The home and the land around the home was owned by Mr. Frank Vanderlip and his family. For decades every teenager in the area knew this home as a mysterious “haunted mansion.”  Teens would pack into cars and make their way to the mansion hoping to get near the house hoping to find something creepy. We investigate the history of Frank Vanderlip and his family, the various urban legends that surrounded the home, and the theories that lead to why these stories started.
